Overview

I was a core part of the frontend team developing Yaay.com.tr, a high-traffic national social media platform. The project required handling massive amounts of user-generated content, real-time interactions, and ensuring a seamless user experience across devices.

Technical Challenges

Social media platforms demand real-time data synchronization without overwhelming the client's browser. Maintaining performance while constantly updating feeds, handling instant messaging, and pushing live notifications was our primary challenge.

Solutions & Architecture

  • Real-time Data & WebSockets: Implemented robust WebSocket connections to handle instant notifications, live feed updates, and direct messaging with minimal latency.
  • UI/UX Standardization & Performance: Led the migration from legacy CSS structures to Tailwind CSS. This architectural shift resulted in a 50% reduction in the CSS bundle size, significantly improving the First Contentful Paint (FCP) and maintaining design consistency across the application.
  • Internal Tooling: Developed custom internal tools, including 'ApiFort' and 'Test Data Manager'. These tools streamlined the testing process for the QA team, reducing manual data entry time by 20% and accelerating our deployment cycles.
